Game Flow
How to Play Matchday ZeroFrom Club to Matchday

Your game flow as a football manager

Take charge of your own club, develop the team and its wider structure, prepare matches, and compete in the league, additional competitions, or direct test matches.

Every area leads back to matchday: the squad defines your options, training and scouting create decisions, the lineup shapes the match plan, and the 2D view makes the game readable.

Step by Step

From the first login to the next matchday

The flow follows the areas that are actually connected in the game. You can move between them, but their effects meet again in the squad, calendar, and matchday.

  1. Confirm registration and take charge of the club

After registration is confirmed, Matchday Zero creates your club and starter squad and assigns the club to league competition.

  2. Review the squad and team roles

The squad shows your players. In team planning, you select the starting XI, positions, roles, set pieces, and options on the bench.

  3. Develop players and gather information

Training controls sessions, workload, and development. Scouting assignments and reports support player observation, opponent context, and further squad planning.

  4. Run transfers and the club economy

Manage listings and offers in the transfer market. Contracts, salaries, sponsorship, finances, and infrastructure define the economic framework.

  5. Choose the competition

The league plan sets regular fixtures. Friendlies and tournaments add further matches, while invitations let you challenge another manager directly to a test match.

  6. Prepare matchday

Before kickoff, review the starting XI, roles, bench, and opponent context. Saved team data provides the basis for the match.

  7. Follow the match in 2D and plan again

The 2D match view shows the score, events, ball movement, and match scenes. Once the result is set, preparation begins for the next fixture.

How you play against other managers

The direct manager-to-manager route uses test-match invitations: select another manager, send an invitation, and once it is accepted a match is created between both clubs.

League competition, friendlies, and tournaments also place clubs into shared fixtures and competitions. Upcoming dates stay visible in the calendar and match centre.
